My Purpose

Helping others is my purpose and I look forward to it each day. It's a far cry from that cubicle.

Ultimately, I think healing starts with the connection. So many of us feel misunderstood, invalidated, and unappreciated. We have had experiences and people in our lives that made us believe we are never good enough, or normal, or just okay. I'm here to listen to your story and be present for you. I'm here to help you rewrite those false beliefs.

Being the Change

I love learning and I am always seeking more knowledge to help you heal. I consult monthly with experts in the field of trauma and am a voracious reader. I also invest in several trainings per year that will help me bring more to the 'therapeutic table’.

I have 16 years experience as a school social worker and almost 20 years in private practice. I have been trained in Rational Emotive therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Somatic Therapy, Yoga, IFS, and I became Certified in EMDR in 2018 and Hypnotherapy in 2022. This is all in the name of helping people truly heal and move forward in their lives.

I give back by volunteering and by donating monthly to Women for Women International — where I sponsor marginalized women in third world countries to create sustainable change for themselves and their families.

In my time outside work, I love to laugh, have fun, and go on adventures big and small. I love to cook, read, watch movies, attend cultural events, travel. Lastly, but most importantly, I’m a mom to a full grown man! and four step kids under 16! It’s a ride!

Choose Instar Healing to Master Your Tomorrow

My professional experience coupled with my own life experiences gives me wisdom, understanding, empathy and a genuine approachability.

I believe in the freedom that comes from getting to know ourselves better, and the acceptance of ourselves that helps us to live more fully. Let's do this!

Maybe you feel ready for change but don't know how to make it happen. Some feedback and support could make a difference. I'm ready to work hard if you are.

My Background

I became a therapist because I want everyone to have a place where they feel heard, seen, and validated. Sometimes we didn’t get these things growing up and we may or may not realize the impact it has had on us.

I know how important the right help is for our sense of belonging and acceptance. I added coaching to broaden the scope of my helping and empowering more women.

I've also graduated from my own 'school of hard knocks’—from trying to find ways to leave a bad relationship (or three or five…), to raising my son on my own and juggling 2-3 jobs, to healing my own trauma and shame. I believe that if I hadn't sought the support I did along the way- from coaches, therapists and spiritual advisors- the road would have been even tougher.

My role as therapist and coach isn't to tell you what's wrong with you. (You aren’t broken!) It's to make sure you know I see your struggle, I get what that emotional pain feels like too, and I am a willing companion, walking beside you, on this part of your journey. I’m here to help you find the skills, mindset, and ways of being that will make you your most amazing self.

I started out as a graphic designer and my projects in art school were always public health-related, but I ended up in a corporate job. After I realized I could die in my cubicle and no one would notice for days, I started feeding my soul through volunteer work with teens. One day, I decided this was more fulfilling and I started a journey of grad school and career change. My son was 5 when, as a single mom, I quit my job, took out loans, and attended Social Work school full time. I had one friend who supported this decision. Everyone else thought I was absolutely bonkers. That was 25 years ago.

I’ve pursued many certifications and trainings since: Martha Beck’s Life Coaching, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certification, Hypnotherapy certification, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as dabbling in Shamanism and Buddhism.

Are you ready to find peace?

Are you ready to improve the relationship you have with yourself and others?

Enough is enough, it’s time to silence that self-doubt and self-blame and start living from a place of authentic connection.

I offer therapy with a coaching flair. That means we will work on healing the past and then work on current and future goals. I use an integrative and holistic approach. My training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR), Hypnosis, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and IFS along with coaching training by Martha Beck, all with the aim to help you overcome personal challenges, and allow you to achieve the peace you seek.

I cater to each of my client’s personal needs in order to unlock their full potential.

Contact me today to start your proactive journey.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am…

Imagine having a space to show up without apology or your mask of perfectionism. Imagine letting someone know your fears and insecurities and not be judged for them.

Or, imagine what it would feel like if there were no more “What-ifs” holding you back. Imagine what it would feel like to double down on the investment in yourself versus sitting on the sidelines of social media or someone else’s idea of success.

You can be the hero of your own story.

Sure, I’ve been tired. I’ve struggled with relationships, taking care of myself, prioritizing what truly matters. I’ve tried to accept my life in a Jack Nicholson “this is as good as it gets” mindset all the while knowing I was capable of doing and having better. You have that capability too.

Let’s figure this out together. Let’s get to know who you are.

Enough is enough. Stop overthinking and start believing in yourself and your ability to find peace and balance in what matters most!
